ABC Evenings Radio Interview with David Astle
Another day, another brand-new experience.
Yesterday evening, I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to chat with the lovely David Astle on his ABC Evening Radio show.
Before the mics turned on, I was a bundle of nerves. There was a very real fear that my anxious breathing might provide listeners with a less-than-ideal Darth Vader or steamy phone hotline vibe.
As it turns out, I need not have worried, from the moment we started, it was nothing but smooth sailing. David is such an engaging, warm, and genuinely curious interviewer that my nerves dissolved into thin air. We had a wonderful chat about my upcoming trip to Greece as a finalist for the Art and Olfaction Awards, as well as the intense qualifying process it took to get there.
Speaking about this journey on air has really caused me to pause and reflect on the absolute wild ride it has been to date. There have been so many learnings along the way, but I have to remind myself that this is the beauty of doing something new.
Taking risks and feeling discomfort in change means I'm growing. My knowledge is expanding, and older parts of me are falling away in anticipation of the new growth occurring. I think it's called "unlearning".
For people who know me well, they know I scoff a little at the general overuse of the word "grateful.", (cue praying hands emoji). Yet, dare I say it, I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunities unfolding right now, and I couldn't let this moment pass without saying a few heartfelt thank yous.
To David Astle: thank you for your warmth, your brilliant questions, and for making a nervous guest feel right at home on air. To 774 ABC Melbourne: thank you for giving me the platform to share my passion and my journey with your listeners. And to Littletrain PR: a massive thank you for working your magic behind the scenes and making this wonderful experience happen.
This finalist journey has already been unforgettable, and I am packing my bags for Greece with a very full heart. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
